Upgrade your Samsung Galaxy GT-i9003 with SCL 10.2 CyanogenMod

If you want to enjoy the features of the latest Android 4.3, CyanogenMod 10.2 is now available to give new life to your mobile phone Galaxy I9003, as I said in the previous post ; Its main advantages are speed, enjoy the latest features of Android, and homogeneity in experience (plus it is very customizable).

It is an ALPHA version, we have been testing and hangs / restarts occasionally (once every two days or so) so it is not recommended to use it yet, I would expect to take out a stable version, see page if it already is. According to the Developer the only downside, aside from those sporadic crashes is that video playback is not quite fluent, but we just have not noticed a difference.
Attention: If you live in South America, they carry other types of modem / 3G Network, so you will not do this version. Looking for more information on websites of your country.
After having tested this equipment, it becomes faster than any other ROM, with a more streamlined interface and interactive user, and all the improvements of Android 4.3 (camera, security, flow, etc). In the video you can see the previous version 10.1, but it gives an idea:

To install it, we do it through CWM (ClockWorkMod Recovery, a powerful boot utility), so the process is very safe and it is extremely difficult to turn the phone into a brick like this.
If already you had CWM installed (for a previous modified ROM), only you would need to download the ROM, keep it in the SD card, reboot into CWM (Volume Up + Home + on) mode, make a Wipe Data / Factory Reset and clear caches and then install the rom with the option of "install zip from SDCard".
We'll see then what steps to take if you have the official version Samsung; the process is simple if we follow the letter will not have problems, I recommend that you read the entire article before getting your hands dirty, to understand some of the process and avoid trouble.

First of all it should be saved in SD card (connecting to computer with USB cable) external ROM and Gapps Google apps (Youtube, Google Maps, Gmail, etc, the ROM is not for you to install them just as you want) :

The ROM is available at the following link (see page XDA if broken):
You have to download the latest available 10.2; in this case the Alpha 3
The Gapps you have them in this other link (click):
We have to choose the version corresponding to our CyanogenMod Gapps; in this case, 20130813
If the link is broken, we have to download (hence or elsewhere) the Google Android Apps for the respective (in this case Android 4.3). In the same repository Goo.im it suggests similar discharges; We would be more current Gapps 4.3 12/10/2013 (marked with a red arrow):

Install ClockWorkMod Recovery

Please make sure the version of your phone is the GT-I9003 to dry; if I9003L or LT, or other numbers, do not try it, you could damage your phone.

To install CWM have to change the "kernel" or core Android to take you through one integrated;so we must find out what version of firmware have installed and replace the one I rooted kernel:

  1. In phone mode press * # 1234 # * and give you a call; will show phone information and next to "PDA" We appear firmware version; the aim and discharge corresponding to that version of this site hacked kernel (click). If we appear not ours, it is best to update your phone with Kies to the latest version available and from there put him rooted core corresponding to the indicated page.
  2. If you do not have drivers for connecting your phone to your computer, you can install the KIES (program of little use Samsung except includes the USB drivers) or downloadeddirectly file with only the drivers , it weighs less, this link .
  3. Download Odin for the computer, and once you put it in "Downloading Mode" (with the phone turned off and unplugged, give this order and hold the Volume keys less + home button + power on button) and connect to the computer.
  4. Open the Odin program after downloading to a folder. Click on the PDA button and select the kernel that you downloaded in step 1, ensuring that the "repartition" option is disabled.
  5. We give the START button, which starts flashing the new kernel rooted with CWM, it will take a few seconds, so do not interrupt the process until the message "PASS" and the phone restarts; we will have the brand new CWM (good utility for backups, etc, from your terminal).

Installing CyanogenMod

If you have already downloaded the ROM and GAPPS as I recommended before copying them to the SD card, and only we lack these steps:
  1. Turn the wireless, and the cable disconnected the battery fully charged, start CWM by pressing the following combination with mobile off: Volume Up + Home + Power On hold until it starts to turn.
  2. We will get the following menu (may vary depending on the version, but will put CWM Recovery)
  3. We chose the option "Wipe data / factory reset" and "wipe cache partition" and hopefully finish.
  4. We chose the option "install zip from sdcard" and select the file from the external SD;right now called CM10.2-GalaxySL-JLS36G-Alpha3.zip.
  5. We hope to finish (about 5 or 10 minutes), we expect to restart and finish installing.
  6. Reboot the computer back into CWM Recovery mode to install the GAPPS we have left in the External SD.
  7. and we will have our phone like a new, faster model with the latest programs, etc. Enjoy it!
